Nordic ManagementBusiness Studies with a Scandinavian focus For the first time in Germany, a course in Nordic Management is offered for students who have a strong affinity for Scandinavia and are aware of the large economic potential in that area. Nordic Management is West Coast University’s expression of internationalization and uses its practice orientation and proximity to Europe. Career Outlook The existing economic ties between Central and Northern Europe are shaped by solid structures in production and sales processes. This led to above-average growth rates with positive effects on labor markets. Additional stimuli for the economic relationships between Central and Northern European companies can be expected due to the eastward expansion of the European Union. This development creates a constant demand for labor in northern German companies with ties to Scandinavia and in Scandinavian companies situated here. Contents of the course Students will be trained to work as mediators in companies, institutions, and associations between the two cultures and help to avoid intercultural friction. The core of this course is made up by two Swedish language modules that teach the basics of the language and lead to level B1 of the Common European Framework of References for Languages. The Swedish lecturers are certified Swedex-examiners. Swedish was chosen because it is understood in all Scandinavian countries and spoken by a majority of people. In another module we discuss the development of culture, language and society in Northern Europe. The modules in Business Studies deal with the fundamentals and specialties of the Northern European markets and their trade relations. By combining questions of Business and Cultural Studies, a comprehensive method competence is achieved for the first time in this area. |
