B.A. Course in International Tourism Management

The International Tourism Management course on both the B.A. and M.A. levels has been on offer at West Coast University of Applied Sciences since 2004. The B.A. course is comprised of six semesters and the M.A. course of four semesters.

International Tourism Management is offered to those interested in obtaining a high level qualification for the global job market. The West Coast University of Applied Sciences values the international character and high practical value of the course, as well as the students’ personal development. In the process of placing an emphasis in Tourism Studies, students will take Destination Management, Health Tourism, Hospitality Management, Leisure & Event Management or Tour Operator Management from 3rd semester onwards. Courses are taught in the form of lectures, seminars, and case study assessments. In addition to the touristic emphasis, students will also specialize in an area in Business Studies. The options here are Business Information Technology, Controlling, Marketing and HRM.

International cooperation with academic institutions and businesses (e.g. Thomas Cook) is valued greatly. Accordingly, the proportion of English increases throughout the course duration. A high practical value is ensured through taking of a semester-long internship, case study seminars and project-based courses (often in cooperation with external partners). On top of that, students will have to spend a semester abroad, which can either be done at one of our partner universities or by completing an internship abroad.

You can find more information on the course and different areas of emphasis on the following pages. If you have any questions, the ITM office and Student Affairs Office will be happy to answer them. Just let us know!
